- I bought one of these things. It is big and slow. On the other hand, it was cheap, Seagate is reliable, and 400 GB! Wow that’s a lot of space. And anyway, it will be out of sight.
- We have given up on DCAccess’s wireless Internet service and are going to try Comcast, again. The last time I had Comcast, it was reasonably fast, but DNS lookups were really, really slow. But now there’s OpenDNS, so who cares? (What’s to say that OpenDNS won’t give up one day and turn every site on the ‘net into a phishing rod? Nothing, I guess. But it sure is fast!)
- We spent Halloween night at the Palace of Wonders, watching two arm wrestling tournaments. We left before the costume contest. The bar’s patrons are uniformly tacks and grimy, exuding a sort of carnie slickness, which appropriately enough is what the place is going for. So congratulations, it worked. (Fair retort: “You’re no prize either.”) Our costumes? J and I went, respectively, as ourselves. But I nearly went as a slightly-more-sober version of myself.
- The furniture extravaganza continues! So we backed away from the $8-16k wardrobe, mainly because it wouldn’t fit anywhere despite, or because of, its general magnificence. Now we’re all about Vastu and maybe Muleh and whatever other cool boutiques have the right vibe. What we’re going for is Italian modernism crossed with Japanese minimalist Zen. When I told this to Sherrie, she didn’t laugh. Another place we like: Good Eye, which carriest the best of European high modernism, especially from Scandinavia, at surprisingly reasonable prices. Less reasonable but totally lust-worthy: Maurice Villency.
- I may post some things from Digg on here. Why not–it’s not like I’ve been posting much, anyway.
