Virtual Works

Studying for property is much harder than I expected it to be. No, it’s not that the material’s difficult; rather, I just can’t concentrate. Thus, this post.
After three days of going through materials, I am up to class 3 of about 27. I don’t doubt that I’ll be able to make it through things over [...]

Hair Flowers Bucket Cactus Pigeon Mug Cat Tent Hat

It was very dark at 6 AM on Sunday, and my eyes didn’t want to stay open. Not even a shot of bitter, over-steeped Earl Gray helped. I had a week’s stubble, and the hem on my new black pants was already unraveling. Black pants, black jacket, black bag, and all charged out into the [...]

I was right…

…she does think I’m crazy. And maybe there’s something to it. I’ll know for sure in a month or so. This is the first exam I’ve taken in law school without her wishing me good luck beforehand. Did it make a difference?
Chris and I went out afterwards for a beer at a local Arlington haunt [...]

Outline for Nelson Lund’s Constitutional Law I Class

Yes, things trail off towards the end, and it is poorly edited–mostly because we can’t bring outlines to the exam, anyway, and so there was no reason to make it useable. Still, perhaps this outline is useful to someone. It is 65 pages long and covers all the cases discussed in class, all the cases [...]

The Bland Moral Relativity of Munich

Yes, I will probably see Spielberg’s Munish at some point. But yes, I fear that Leon Wieseltier is probably entirely correct.
His criticisms reminded me of my first exposure to “Svaing Private Ryan.” It is a thrilling and moving film that is, ultimately, hollow and pointless on the big subjects that it purports to address. [...]

Good for them

The Times tries to paint this as hypocrisy, but it isn’t. How is it not thoroughly consistent to want lower taxes and less spending? Makes sense to me.
Despite Deficit, House Approves $56 Billion in Tax Cuts - New York Times
Voting 234 to 197, almost purely along party lines, the House approved $56 billion in tax [...]

Good To Know

I always thought that seasoning a pan involved salt, somehow. My father told me that at one point; it’s not too surprising that he was wrong.
Cast iron pans seem like a good idea, too. Cheap, durable, and heavy. What I like most about the Calphalon pots and pans that I have now are their [...]

The more I read…

…the less sense that it makes. Constitutional law, that is. My outline, which is not allowed in the exam room, is 43 pages long so far. It will probably end up around 65 or 70, total. At that point, my brain will be mush, which is perfect for expounding on the Constitution–that is, if one’s [...]

The Runners Four

Several Thoughts.

This is not really a Deerhoof album. There are songs that have recognizable beginnings, middles, and ends. It is not a Deerhoof album.

That hammering guitar in “Scream Team” is addictive. You’ll want to listen to it over and over again.
Doesn’t “Odyssey” sound like Animal Collective?
More than once, we’ve mistaken two tracks on this album [...]

My Muddled Mind

Working on a paper earlier today, I let this sentence slide: “Many have excoriated these savings as huge cuts, but the truth is that both bills take only a small step toward reining in the unbridled entitlement spending that threatens America’s future prosperity.”
What I was thinking was “Many have excoriated legislators for these huge cuts” [...]
