It is thundering and lightening in DC and so we decided to make stew. (His will kill two gulls, as it were, with one rock: there\’s no need for us to visit the store and finally we\’ll be freed of the vegetables that have taken over the fridge of late.
Whence the vegetables? Via dcist, I discovered a delivery service. Every Thursday, fifteen pounds of onions, carrots, squashes, mangos, grapes, and the like is deposited at our door in a plain cardboard box, specled with dirt and dust. Some of the vegetables seem local and fresh, like the onions (at this time of year?), and others do not. Regardless, that\’s not the point. With vegetables shoved down our throats (or deposited on our doorstep) we would have no choice but to eat them. So far, our experience has been so-so: the quality is ok, but our enthusiasm less vigorous than I had hoped. Anyway, this stew will do in the lot of them…well, not the mangos.
Lunch today was at amsterdam falafel in adams morgan. The falafel was great. Les frites were not.
