Let the Games Begin

It is my first night of lawschool, and I have arrived in Contracts class one hour and fifteen minutes early to secure the seat of my choosing, which will be mine through the end of the term. So which seat? In the near empty room, it struck me that I don’t particularly care. My sole concerns are my neighbors and their habits.

I should perhaps have been later.

Thought two: hey, with the laptops: mute it. I don’t want to here the Window’s sound.

Thought three: we saw wildlife last night: slugs. Too lazy to try out the salt thing.

Thought four: There was other wildlife, Angie says. No more here need be said.

Thought five: A weblog post that I wrote Friday on the new CBO report has done well. Bill is doing media all over on it. Why? I accused reporters of not being able to read–which, apparently, is true, as I still see a few stories getting the report wrong (i.e., claiming that there’s some shifting tax burden, a Kerry campaign talking point that is not true but is a great talking point.

Thought six: I forgot to figure out Scott Glabe’s internship. Will do that tomorrow. Emailed Glabe. And then there’s the matter of another one….erg.

Thought seven: Cajun catfish last night. Not bad. Lots of paprika (sp?), garlic, etc. Roasted onions. Red (jug) wine and tomato paste. Less paste next time, for sure, and it will be excellent.

Thought eight: Must make that tilapia again, with the pink onions.

Thought nine: Does no one else here have a Macintosh? All these ugly (and loud, see above) laptops. Geez.

Thought ten: Will I blog during class as I did throughout my tenure at Fels (when I was awake, that is). Hope not, as I’m not sure I can stomach that sort of failure again (their failure, not mine).

Thought eleven: Should do some more writing tomorrow on: outsourcing (Krugman), that FTC report on health care market regulation, taxation and dividends (that new study from NBER, via NCPA), force relaignment (quote Spencer), and…

Thought twelve: Former intern JS posted a paper on his intern experience on his website. Several not-public items in it that should be removed, though none are especially secret or at all damaging. Still, bad instinct on his part. Also, he admits in it to procrastinating and turning in ’sub-par’ work. I think he had a terrible work instinct, but is my standard too high?
