What We Wasted Our Meagre Disposable Income On Today

  1. Modest Mouse - Good News for People Who Love Bad News
  2. Deerhoof - Milk Man
  3. Blonde Redhead - Misery Is a Butterfly
  4. Blonde Redhead - Melody of a Certain Damaged Lemon (which we’ve never owned on CD before!)
  5. Belle & Sebastian - Fold Your Hands Child… (Ditto; we will also say that this is not our favorite B&S album, though it does have a couple good songs, like the surprising “Don’t Leave the Lights On, Baby,” but we love any song that addresses the listener as “baby.”)

Also, we downloaded illegally a copy of the new Preston School of Industry album, which we would have then purchased if it had been any good. What a Spiral!

And, after Graydon Carter, those who remember that we once lamented the death of indie rock are mistaken. We actually said “ironing,” er, “Indie Wok,” a fiercely self-styled restaurant that was the place to be, back in the day.

Right.

I saw blonde redhead over spring break in a really small venue and I yelled out “ME LOVE YOU LONG TIME” to that cutie japanese lead singer but I’ll be damned if I wasn’t the only one laughing.
