Two Things That I Really Dislike about the Grado Headphones that Angie Gave to Me
- When listening via my computer or the iPod, bass drums are just super-muddy. Take, e.g., the Flaming Lips’ “Are you a Hypnotist” or Modest Mouse’s “The World at Large.” Why this is a problem? Most small electronic amplifiers are just underpowered. The solution? Buy an expensive amplifier that costs about 10X what the headphones do. Will I do this? Yes, I already picked out the model.
- She only bought one pair, which means that I have to cart them back and forth to the office. Of course, I wear the B&Os outside because I don’t want to look silly. Plus the cord is really thick and long and there’s nothing to do with it when you’ve got your iPod in a jacket pocket. The solution? Buy another pair. Will I do this? Of course not; owning two pairs would be an extravagant waste of money.
