Albums to get

homelessguy

  1. The New Modest Mouse (first single, “Float On,” is not bad). I also need to get a new copy of “The Moon and Antarctica,” since mine is AWOL.
  2. New Deerhoof–>”Milk Man.” Songwriting is supposed to be tighter than before…is that possible?
  3. Of Montreal: Satanic Panic in the Attic
  4. New Tortoise? Pitchfork panned it
  5. James Brown - Live at the Apollo (1963)
  6. Robert Pollard - 2 new solo albums on his Captain label…plus the dozen or so that I don’t have. When I have all the money in the world, I will buy as much of Pollard and GBV’s back catalog as possible. I guessed a month or two ago that Pollard’s ever-shifting bandmates must be daunted by a back catalog of around 800 songs. The actual number, according to this site, is 788. Actually, the true number is much higher; 788 just represents recorded songs that Pollard has written or co-written.

Listening to right now: Yo La Tengo’s 2004 WFMU fundraiser set, which was on 3/20 or so, when I was in NYC, but we didn’t know it. Plus, Angie wouldn’t have wanted to sit around listening to the radio anyway. Setlist highlights: Gigantic (Pixies), The Lion Sleeps Tonight (Tokens), She Cracked (Jonathan Richman), Drawing to a Hole (The Clean), Taxman (Beatles) (!!!!), and London Calling (Clash).

Hmmmm. When Angie moves down here, can I spend my Saturday nights downloading and reading econ papers from SSRN and flipping through music reviews?
