blather

I’m writing this post in a Windows text editor called NoteTab Light, via a Mozilla Firebird extension called Mozex. Mozex lets you use external applications, like this text editor, to view HTML source (though I like Mozilla’s source-handling) and edit textareas. It’s a nice idea, since, aside from its immediacy, writing in any browser sucks.

Unfortunately, NoteTab Light doesn’t have a spell-checker, which is probably the feature that I need more than anything. Still, being able to see what I’m writing in a larger window is nice, as are things like search/replace, HTML validation and color-highlighting, and scriptability (though I doubt I’ll ever use it). Plus, I have always been worried about my browser crashing when I’m in the middle of writing something long. Until now, my solution has been to select-all and copy every so often, but having a permanent file on my hard drive seems like a better solution.

If Safari had the ability to call external programs, I would use BBEdit to write posts on my Mac, but I doubt that such a feature will come any time soon.

Anyway, there’s lots of work to be done here (i.e., at my desk) and blathering here isn’t helping get any of it done. If I can get a little bit ahead, I’ll go to see Sen. Santorum when he comes by early this afternoon to speak on marriage. Gov. Perry and Rep. DeLay yesterday, and Sen. Santorum today…not bad.
