So I was at home working last night when it started to frustrate me that the wireless connection was so lousy (well, actually it’s my PowerBook Faraday cage, but whatever). So, on a whim, I hacked into my neighbor’s wifi router (from which I’m leaching broadband) to see what, if anything I could do to increase the signal. After a bit of research, I saw that Japanese regulations would allow a higher output, and so I configured the router to act as if it was in Japan, broadcasting on Wifi channel 14. Whoops. My American-configured Airport card doen’t do channel 14.
No more wireless, for now…(except at Starbucks, where I’m typing this. It’s pouring out and will probably be a while before I can get a table and stop burining my lap).
