Wrt incumbents… Antidemocratic?

(above posted from my cell; I plan on posting more ideas and thoughts when I have them and then filling in the details later when I’m at the computer)

Charlie Cook made the point on “Morning Edition” that campaign finance reform has kept a lot of would-be challengers out of the field this time arount. It makes sense: challengers have the most to lose when everybody’s potential fundraising take is cut. Incumbants have some name recognition and press power already, but challengers need financial resources to affect the same coverage.

Funny that no one thought of this in the runup to McCain/Feingold.
